BUILDING THE FRAMEWORK: MENTAL ALIGNMENT
Romans 12:2 – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
I. Your thoughts are not the problem. Your thinking is.
• Thoughts are the fruit; Thinking is the root.
Ephesians 4:23c – and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
• You interpret truth through the lens of your mindset.
Proverbs 23:7 – For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.
• A renewed mind is not new information; it is a new interpretation.
Romans 12:2 – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
TRANSFORMATION BEGINS WHEN YOUR FRAMEWORK CHANGES.
II. The real problem isn’t new information. It’s old patterns
• You don’t need more truth; you need to make room for it.
Mark 2:21-22 – No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.
• Your old pattern was shaped by survival, not by design.
Ephesians 4:22-24 – That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was createdaccording to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
• God must tear down the structure that houses your wrong thinking.
Jeremiah 1:10 – See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.
III. Strongholds aren’t demons. They’re defended beliefs.
• A stronghold is a protected way of thinking.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 – For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty inGod for pulling down strongholds, 5casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Lies become strongholds when you start defending them instead of dismantling them.
• You must stop defending the very beliefs that defeat you.
John 8:32 – And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
• The battle is not for your thoughts but for your agreement
Amos 3:3 – Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
IV. You must separate your Identity from your Information.
• You are not what you learned; you are who God designed.
Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Your environment may have educated you, but it should not define you
• You are not wrong; the information you were given was wrong.
John 8:44 – You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. God doesn’t condemn you for believing a lie; He calls you to exchange it for truth.
• The Word of God restores your identity by renewing your program.
Colossians 3:9-10 – Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
V. Unlearning is the KEY to transformation.
• You cannot Renew what you Refuse to Release.
Ephesians 4:22-24 – that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created
according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
• Repentance means more than turning away; it means a New Way of Thinking.
Romans 12:2 – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
VI. How unlearning happens —
“Four Steps to Renewal”
1. Expose the Lie — Bring the Lie into the Light.
John 8:31-32 - Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
2. Expel it from your Mind — Renounce and Remove the False Belief.
2 Corinthians 10:4 – For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
- “I renounce the lie that I’ll never be free.”
- “I renounce the lie that I have to handle everything myself.”
- “I renounce the lie that my past defines my future.”
3. Exchange the Lie for the Truth – Every lie expelled must be replaced with truth.
Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Hebrews 13:5 – For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are the called according to His purpose.
Let this Truth Rule: “God’s character defines my reality, not my circumstances.”
4. Exercise your Mind — Practice truth until it becomes instinct.
Hebrews 5:14 – But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Philippians 2:5 – Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
